The purpose of playing
club volleyball is to provide an opportunity for the girls to increase their
level of play by participating in tournaments that have a high level of competition.
Club volleyball is also a very good way to expose themselves to college recruiters.
The Club Dynamite goal
is to be able to provide an overall knowledge of the game and to improve their
skills at multiple levels and positions. This is to be done through structured
practices and tournaments of different levels. We aim to provide a fun environment
and good atmosphere for our players to develop their talent.
Player
Requirements:
- Commitment:
Every player should have a high level of commitment to the team and to the
sport. Make every practice, show up on time, and be ready to work hard.
If you have to miss practice, you MUST inform your coach BEFORE practice.
We will be keeping role of who misses and for what reasons, because it will
have a bearing on your playing time when it comes to tournaments. Keep in
mind that school is important, so please be responsible and study when you
can and make good grades so that it does not interfere with volleyball.
Try to plan other activites around tournaments so that you do not have to
miss.
- Attitude:
Every player will get along with the rest of the players on the team and
within the entire club. Bad attitudes and sulking after mistakes is POISON
to the team and will not be tolerated any longer. This too will have a bearing
on each players time on the court during tournaments. Be mature and let
go of mistakes so it does not bring the team down. Do not talk back to your
coaches! They are there to help and if you do not need coaching, then you
do not need to be in club volleyball.
- Work Ethic:
Every player needs to show up to every practice and every tournament with
the determination to work hard and to win. Be part of the team, not an individual.
It is the only way to win!! Also, goofing off at practice does no good for
the team or for yourself and is not tolerated. If there is consistency within
an individual showing lack of effort, they will be asked to sit out of practice
or the tournament to think about whether this is something they want to
do. Every player needs to learn where to draw the line between having fun
but working hard and goofing off and not trying.
Payments
& Tournament Scheduling:
- There will be a payment
schedule posted and known to everyone at the beginning of season. It is
a requirement for every player to be current on their dues in order to be
able to participate at practices and tournaments.
- Once you have made
a payment, it is not refundable for any reason. Also, it will not be allowed
to be applied towards future payments. We make payments to tournament directors
and coaches once all money is collected. So for these reasons it is important
that all parents get your daughters' other extra curricular schedules in
order, so that you do not pay for a tournament you cannont attend. With
that said, if you commit to this club, then it is important to make it to
every tournament. Missing several tournaments during the season messes with
the teams chemistry and ability to grow as a team. Think long and hard when
you commit to this club, because there are many people relying on you to
show up when it counts.
Playing
time:
- In addition to what
has already been noted, a players ability to perform and compete at the
level needed will be considered when it comes time to placing them on teams
and playing them in tournaments. Club volleyball is not high school ball.
WE ARE NOT REQUIRED TO PLAY EVERYONE, OR EQUALLY. Two club seasons have
gone by where I have been nice and played everyone as equal as possible.
This is no longer the case. At the club level, the girls that make the teams
are required to perform at their top level in order to play in tournaments.
We preach that the girls play like they practice. So as parents, please
help encourage the importance of being serious about improving and practicing
hard. Please respect the decisions made by the coaches when it comes to
placing the girls on each team. At the beginning of season, nothing is set,
we have to play around with the different possibilities before we decide
for sure. If you feel you are misplaced, then the PLAYER can approach the
coach about it. We will then tell you what needs to be done in order to
be moved. Nothing is guaranteed.
Player/Parent/Coach
Relationship:
- The coaches are there
to lead the team and guide them to victories. All of our club coaches are
well informed and experienced with the aspects of the game. If there are
any concerns or issues with their coaching styles and/or questions of a
player's time on the court, they need to be taken up with the coach in a
professional, polite manner and in private in order to avoid other discrepancies.
PARENTS: DO NOT APPROACH THE COACH DURING A TOURNAMENT. It is one distraction
that they do not need. Both players and parents are welcome to voice their
opinions, however please take this handbook into consideration before you
approach the coach. I always recommend that the players handle their
own business.
Starting the 2009-2010
season, each parent and players will be required to read and sign this handbook
saying that they are in agreement with the requirements, rules and procedures.
